چکیده
Ticks are one of the main economic threats to cattle industry worldwide affecting productivity, health and welfare. The need for alternative methods control tick populations is prompted by high prevalence multiresistant strains chemical acaricides their ecological consequences. Biological using entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) most promising options. objective this paper review use EPF as an method against ticks in Mexico. Metarhizium anisopliae sensu lato (s.l.) Beauveria bassiana s.l. studied biological laboratory field, mainly Rhipicephalus microplus ; however, evaluations other important such Amblyomma mixtum R . annulatus , needed. A transdisciplinary approach required incorporate different types tools, genomics, transcriptomics proteomics order better understand pathogenicity/virulence mechanism ticks. Laboratory tests have demonstrated efficacy susceptible resistant/multiresistant populations; whereas, field shown satisfactory efficiency M stages when applied both on pasture cattle. Epidemiological aspects environmental factors considered components that influence acaricidal behavior EPF. Finally, considering all these aspects, some recommendations proposed integrated schemes livestock

Control of livestock ectoparasites with entomopathogenic fungi: a review
The abundance of ectoparasites requires ongoing management and this is most commonly achieved with insecticides or endectocides. However, the growth in resistance, the slow rate of development of new actives, coupled with environmental and health concerns associated with the continued use of some of the existing neurotoxic insecticides, suggest that alternative approaches to their management ne...
متن کاملEntomopathogenic fungi for mosquito control: A review
Fungal diseases in insects are common and widespread and can decimate their populations in spectacular epizootics. Virtually all insect orders are susceptible to fungal diseases, including Dipterans. Fungal pathogens such as Lagenidium, Coelomomyces and Culicinomyces are known to affect mosquito populations, and have been studied extensively. There are, however, many other fungi that infect and...

متن کاملPotential for entomopathogenic fungi to control Triatoma dimidiata (Hemiptera: Reduviidae), a vector of Chagas disease in Mexico.
INTRODUCTION The use of entomopathogenic fungi to control disease vectors has become relevant because traditional chemical control methods have caused damage to the environment and led to the development of resistance among vectors. Thus, this study assessed the pathogenicity of entomopathogenic fungi in Triatoma dimidiata. METHODS Preparations of 108 conidia/ml of Gliocladium virens, Talarom...
متن کاملControl of Pyrethroid-Resistant Chagas Disease Vectors with Entomopathogenic Fungi
BACKGROUND Triatoma infestans-mediated transmission of Tripanosoma cruzi, the causative agent of Chagas disease, remains as a major health issue in southern South America. Key factors of T. infestans prevalence in specific areas of the geographic Gran Chaco region-which extends through northern Argentina, Bolivia, and Paraguay-are both recurrent reinfestations after insecticide spraying and eme...
